The decorative urn on top is surmounted by a bunch of flowers whilst further flowers are draped around the top of the dial and a swag of flowers hangs down below. The clock rests on decorative toupee feet.
The delicately written dial, which has roman numerals, is signed by Monteil of Toulouse, who was probably the retailer, although he is recorded as a clock-maker, who was working in Rue de la Balance from 1830 to 1840; whilst the backplate of the movement is signed HLRS Pickard & A.D.Punant, 1026 Paris, who were working at Rue des Quatre Fils in 1840 and later at Rue du Pont aux Choux.
