A miniature corniche carriage clock by the well-known Parisian maker Arsene Margaine. The eight-day duration, timepiece movement has the original platform lever escapement and is stamped on the backplate with the trademark of Margaine, a beehive with the initials AM either side along with the serial number 4055 and with the further initials C.V. within an oval, being those of Charles Voison. The white enamel dial has black Roman numerals and blued steel spade hands.
Francois Arsene Margaine was a fine carriage clock maker who worked in Paris at rue Bondy, 54 having had various addresses in the city. He bought his blanc roulants from both Saint Nicolas d'Aliermont and the Franche Comte.
