A Monumental Pair of Bronze Andirons in The Renaiassance Manner of Niccolo Roccatagliata (Italian, 1593-1636).

Each andiron is modelled as a torchère on scrolling legs, decorated with lion masks and ‘C’-scrolls, flanked by a pair of putti supporting drapery and surmounted by a further large figure of a winged putto.

Their design is inspired by the celebrated model executed by the famed Renaissance Sculptor Nicolo Roccatagliata in the Museo Nazionale, Florence.
L. Planschig, Venezianische Bildhauer Der Renaissance, Vienna, 1921, Abb.666.
