The ‘Kosmos’ burner was patented in the UK in 1865, by Wilde & Wessel of Berlin. The company was taken over in 1899 by Messrs Brokleman, Jager et Cie, at which point the winder mechanisms were marked ‘Kosmos Brenner’. These burners were sold wholesale on a worldwide basis, and were still being manufactured up until 1974 - when a disastrous fire destroyed the factory.
