A high quality pair of George III period mahogany Dining Chairs with moulded, interlaced Gothic arches within the hoop-backs. Upholstered seats and square tapering legs with spade feet. Each chair stamped on the underside 'A.P.' This mark is known to relate to a journeyman employed by Gillows in the early nineteeth century and appear on many pieces known to have been made by these eminent makers. Ref. Susan Smart - Gillows vol. II p.211 and Christies sale Hackwood House 20-22/04/1998 lot 158.
Excellent original condition, re-upholstered in a cotton damask.
