Item Description / Dealer Expertise

A fine pair of Regency mahogany hall chairs, the shell shaped backs above rectangular moulded feet and reeded seat-rails on downswept moulded legs.

Note:
A pair of Gillows stamped hall chairs of this model are in the collection of Abbott Hall Art Gallery, Kendal. Gillows also made a set of shell backed hall chairs for the Reverend Holland Edwards of Pennant, Conwy North Wales in 1811. C.S Stuart Gillows of Lancaster and London 1730-1840. Suffolk, 2008, Pl. 177.
