A Pair of Large Art Deco Figural 'Clarté' Lamps by Max Le Verrier (French, 1891–1973).

At 84 cm (33 inches) this was one of the largest casts produced of Verrier's iconic Clarté figure, depicting a dancer holding aloft an illuminated ball.

Verrier carved the figure of Clarté in 1928, basing the composition on three live models: one for the head, another one for the chest, and one for the legs. For the legs, he asked a a ballet dancer from Josephine Baker's company to pose.

An example of the largest, life sized, cast can be found in the lobby of the Lutetia Hotel in Paris.
