A FINE PAIR OF ENGLISH CARVED MAHOGANY “GAINSBOROUGH” OPEN ARMCHAIRS. Circa 1765
Each with a rectangular upholstered back with a serpentine cresting rail joined to padded arms ending in foliate carved and scrolled armrests on incurved foliate carved supports with trapezoidal upholstered seat with serpentine front seat rail raised on foliate carved and moulded cabriole legs terminating in scrolled toes. The rear legs backswept with similar feet.
