An unusual pair of Silver Trencher Salts. One is James II, London, 1685. Made by Pierre Harache. He came to England in October 1681 to escape the persecution of the Hugenots in France and in 1682 he became the first Frenchman to be entered into the London Guild of Goldsmiths. He and his son and other members of the family were responsible for the production of a considerable amount of fine silverware in the later part of the 17th Century and early 18th Century.

The other one of the pair was made much later in 1814.
