set in the original chased foliate gilt-metal frame, the reverse with oval aperture to reveal plaited hair
Eliza is recorded as residing in Rothesay and afterwards Stirling in Scotland. She was the sister-in- law of John Montgomery of Trinidad. Her name appears in a list of People who had an address in Scotland and were awarded compensation for the slaves they owned . Her claim was dated 1834 Trinidad so it is likely she left Scotland and travelled to be with her Brother-in law sometime after this portrait was taken.
