In gold frame set with pearl border the reverse engraved Sir Wilfred Lawson/ 10th Baronet of Brayton/ R. Cosway

It is possible the sitter is Sir Wilfred Lawson, the 10th Baronet (1764 - 1806). He served in the Lancashire Militia, Lieutenant 1792, Captain in 1794, resigned in 1796.
Although the engraving on the reverse suggests that this is the work of Richard Cosway this identification is unlikely to be accepted today, although the hand is not dissimilar to Cosway's. It is nevertheless a pleasing portrait
