wearing a white dress with frilled collar, a strand of pearls around her right arm and a white bandeau tied in a bow in her long brown hair
,Set in the original frame, the reverse with locks of blonde hair tied with gold wire and split seed pearls on blue glass (remnants of old sticky label on surface of the glass).

Singleton worked in London and between 1779 to 1791 he occasionally exhibited at the Royal Academy. The evidence of blue tones, particularly in the sitter's face is a characteristic associated with his hand.

It is interesting the note that whilst the sitter's hair appears to be brown in the portrait the locks of hair on the reverse are fair in tone, suggesting perhaps this was the colour of her hair as a baby.
