A pretty portrait of a young Lady with powdered hair upswept and adorned with pink blue and white flowers, wearing a low cut pink dress with white bodice, a spray of flowers on her left shoulder, pearl choker
painted on vellum, backed with mother of pearl, set into a dainty gold coloured bangle bracelet with pierced sides and foliate engraving

Welper was the miniature painter to Louis XV and drawing teacher to the daughters of the King. The greater part of his miniatures were mounted on valuable boxes and used as gifts offered to foreign diplomats. He was a good miniaturist who favoured green colouring.
