Charlotte was the eldest daughter of General William Loftus, Lieutenant of the Tower, and Lady Elizabeth, daughter of the 1st Marquess Townshend. She married Charles Vere Ferrers (1785-1853) the second son of George, 2nd Marquess Townshend 24th March, 1812

Another hexagonal version, by Cosway, of this miniature was sold at Sotheby’s, 28th April, 1981, lot 238, which had an inscription on the reverse which was dated 1812.
This is a fine example of Cosway’s mature style
