A rare Queen Anne solid and veneered walnut open armchair with a cartouche shaped padded back and oval drop in seat, covered in 18th Century floral gros point needlework. The out scrolling arms supported on shaped uprights and cabriole legs terminating in pointed feet, joined by shaped stretchers centred by a lotus leaf.

The lotus leaf design is of Chinese and Japanese origin, and was popular in England at the beginning of the 18th century.
