A beautiful Omar Ramsden and Alwyn Carr arts and crafts sterling silver box, fully hallmarked for London, 1911, set with amethysts. This is an unusual version of a Ramsden and Carr box being set with cut as well as cabochon stones.

Ramsden & Carr founded their arts and crafts silver studio in London in 1898 and were key contributors of the arts and crafts metalwork movement alongside the likes of Charles Ashbee's Guild of Handicrafts and Archibald Knox for Liberty & Co's Cymric range. After 1919 the firm continued as one of Britain's leading silver studios under Omar Ramsden alone
