The Cruet stands on four ball feet and the main section of the cage is decorated with laurel leaf bands. Each of the corners of the cage have detailed lion paw legs terminating in wing supports flanking anthemion motifs. The reed and tie arched top terminates in a double scroll carrying handle which is decorated with leaf capping and a Rococo shell motif. The Cruet has four vase shaped egg cups and a central circular salt container, which are all decorated with bands of raised laurel leaves and each is engraved with a contemporary Crest. The Cruet also has four fiddle and thread egg spoon which are all engraved with the same Crest and which were made in London by the Spoon makers, William Eley & William Fearn.

The design of the Cruet is very Classically inspired and there is no doubt that Richard Cooke has drawn influence from the designs of Paul Storr. He was well regarded as a silversmith, as we know that he supplied the leading retailers of the day, Rundell & Co, as well as Jeffery's Jones and Gilbert.
