A Rare Louis XV Style Gilt-Bronze Mounted Marble Top Console Table, By François Linke.

A comparative model of console table - no. 153, is illustrated by Christopher Payne in his book François Linke, 1855 - 1946, The Belle Époque of French Furniture, p. 55, pl. 45. The unrestrained Louis XV style borrows from the German rococo designer Cuvillies and the engravings of Hoppenhaut from the 1750’s.

The marble top of serpentine outline above an undulating frieze centered by a shell and foliage within C-scroll encadrements, raised on angular cabriole legs ending in foliate scroll sabots, joined by a wavy stretcher centered by a platform surmounted by a finial.
Payne, Christopher, François Linke, (1855 - 1946), The Belle Époque of French Furniture, Antique Collectors' Club, (Woodbridge), 2003, p.55, pl. 45 for an illustration of this model of console table.
