An interesting Victorian trick opening silver vesta box. The box has engine turning all over. The box opens by sliding back the applied cartouche on the top of the box. Made by John Batson and Sons and hallmarked in London in 1895.
The vesta has fine scratches to the surface. The strike shows signs of wear consistent with use. The silver inside the box has some marks and pitting to the surface. There are clear marks struck on the base. The trick mechanism is a little stiff.
