The amboyna hinged revolving top opens to a green original baize playing surface; above an ebony banded edge
with carved ebony scrolls to each corner and turned supports each side above a drawer. With tapering end
supports terminating in carved ebony stylised foliate decoration above amboyna plinth feet with turned ebony
feet and paterae; the end supports supported by a turned ebony stretcher.
George Seddon founded the firm and first appears in the London Directory in 1768. After
he died in 1777, the firm was taken over by his sons and amalgamated with Shackleton. At
the beginning of the 19th century it changed names again, and under the name of Morel
and Seddon, was paid large sums in connection with the furnishing and decoration of
Windsor Castle.
