A small giltwood mirror from the early 19th century. The platform in the middle of the top is usually a perch for an eagle, but in this case we have a, much rarer, pineapple. Pineapples were from the Americas and very exotic and expensive. The ultimate decoration for your dinner table they could even be hired for the evening by the thriftier hostess.

We have regilded this piece ourselves using the water-gilding technique (naturally). We've left the gilding bright - burnishing the high lights while leaving the the lower flatter areas matt - this adds to the visual depth of the frame.
