A George IV Scottish Wine Funnel with vine leaf border and leaf clip, Edinburgh 1828, Leonard Urquhart.

Leonard Urquhart first appears in the Edinburgh Directories in 1828/9, working from 8, McDowall Street. By 1830/31 he had moved to 15 Shakespeare Square, where he remained until 1843/5 when he had moved to 47, High Street [with a home at 7 Drummond Street].He is no longer listed in the Post Office Directory of 1844/5 and the register of births has the following entry for November 1845: 'The deceased Leonard URQUHART Silver Smith Residing in No 2 Drummond Street and Helen MILLER his spouse had a Daughter Born to them on the Twenty first day of October last – Named Leonardine Helen.'
Good. Minor wear to highlights. The interior muslin torn. The maker's mark is lightly struck on the lower part of the funnel but is discernible. There is some bruising visible on the edge of the under-side of the top rim in places.
