The Vinaigrette is silver gilt and broad rectangular in form. The base is decorated with engine turned engraving surrounding a rectangular disc cartouche engraved with contemporary script initials. The sides also display unusual trailing acanthus foliage on a matted ground. The castle top cover displays a view of Windsor Castle from the Garden Front with the Round Tower behind. The view of the castle is from the East towards the new gardens created for George IV and the new terrace built by Jeffry Wyatville as part of the re-built and re-sited Royal Apartments, largely completed by 1828.
The interior is very finely gilded and the grille is pierced and engraved with pluming scrolls and flower heads.
