A George III gadroon-edged Salver, London 1776, Makepeace and Carter. The salver with contemporary arms engraved for James Wallace and his wife, Elisabeth, daughter and heiress of Thomas Simpson of Carleton Hall, Cumberland. James Wallace, (1729-1783), married on 8th January 1767. He was elected M.P. for Horsham, Susex in 1770, was appointed Solicitor General in 1778 and Attorney General in 1780. He is buried in Exeter Cathedral.
