A gorge cased carriage clock with an eight-day duration movement, with the original silvered platform lever escapement which is numbered to the underside with the escapement maker’s serial number10380 and strikes the hours and half-hours on a gong. The backplate is stamped with the serial number 6973, with the frontplate and movement stamped with the Jacot poincon, giving the dates of various exposition awards, the last on this example being for the silver medal at the Paris Exposition of 1878. The white enamel dial has black Roman numerals and blued steel spade hands.
The serial number 6973 gives a date of manufacture of circa 1890.
