x, 32pp, [2], 22 plates. Recently rebacked and recornered by Temple Bookbinders, smooth back, spine in seven panels, divided by greek key bands, title in gilt to second panel, author to fourth, date to foot, remaining panels with central oblong tool in blind, paste-paper covered boards. Minor rubbing to extremities, paper covering boards chipped to edges with small amounts of loss and slightly rubbed generally. Internally lightly foxed generally, occasionally heavier, especially to title, though the images are generally clean. Small amount of loss to one corner of one plate, not affecting image. Parallel English and French text. With twenty-two aquatint plates. Richardson was seemingly first employed by the Adam brothers, later publishing his works in a similar format to theirs, his books were "remarkably well subscribed by members of the royal family, by the nobility and gentry, by architects in this country and abroad, and by the major furniture makers of the period, Chippendale, Linnell and Ince and Mayhew" (Harris)
