This very fine piece stands on a stepped circular foot decorated with applied beaded bands. The vase shaped main body is engraved with a contemporary Armorial, with Crest above, surrounded by an oval linear cartouche. The cartouche displays engraved tied ribbons above. The loop handles are decoarted with beading and acanthus foliage and are attached, at the top, with unusual bat wing mouldings. The Cooler is very well marked in the foot and displays the original hammer marks, on the interior, from when it was originally made. The Armorial and Crest are those of the Freer family of Stratford-On-Avon, County Warwickshire. A very fine piece from the workshops of this excellent silversmith.

Length, across the handles: 8.45 inches, 21.13cm.
Height, to the rim: 8 inches, 20cm.
Weight: 25oz.
