The Sideboard Dish is of a large size and displays a shaped gadrooned edge. The border is also engraved with a contemporary Crest, below the Coronet of a Baron. The size of this piece lends itself to a variety of uses in the dining room. The Crest is that of Henry Richard Fox, 3rd Baron Holland. He was born in 1773 and in 1797, married Elizabeth, daughter and heiress of Richard Vassall Esq and former wife of Sir Godfrey Webster, Bt. As a result of this marriage, Lord Holland afterwards assumed the surname Vassall. He was sometime the Recorder of Nottingham, a cabinet minister and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and was elected FRS and FSA. He died in 1840 and was succeeded by his only son, the 4th and last Baron, who died in 1859.

Henry Richard was the grandson of the famous politician Henry Fox and nephew of the even more famous Charles James Fox.
