The Dish is realistically modelled as a butter churn with plain side handles and wide reeded bands, to simulate the metal bands on the churn. The stepped domed cover terminates in an urn finial decorated with lobing. Both the main body and cover are engraved with a contemporary Scottish Crest, with the Motto "Spero" above. Both the main body and cover are fully marked and are in excellent condition. Butter Dishes modelled as churns are extremely scarce. The Crest is that of Lawrence of Scotland.

Height: 4 inches, 10cm.
Length, handle to handle: 5.6 inches, 14cm.
Weight: 13oz.
