The Cork has reeded mounts and the ring top has a shaped banner attached, which is finely engraved with the rare title of BURGUNDY, with good niello filled lettering. The mounts are unmarked, however we date it to circa 1790, due to the reeded mounts, which were a popular form of decoration during the 1790's. Small wears did not have to be fully marked until the Hallmarking Act of 1791, and this piece probably went straight to the client from the silversmith. Burgundy Wine Labels are especially rare from the Eighteenth century, however this is the first time we can ever recall seeing a Burgundy Bottle Cork.

Length: 4.25 inches, 10.63cm.
