The Pail has slightly tapering sides, which rise to a beaded rim and arched twisted handle. The sides are pierced with the very rare spider's web design and also displays quatrefoils in ovals, surrounded by an engraved herring bone band. The foot of the main body is also engraved with a pretty bright cut and prick dot engraved band. This example is in excellent condition, is fully marked on the base and has a blue glass liner. Although the maker's mark is struck at an angle, it is most definitely Burrage Davenport's, who was a specialist pierced worker, especially baskets and pails. This design is particularly rare and although we have seen one other, this is the first time we have offered the rare spider's web design.

Height: 4.4 inches, 11 cm.
Diameter at the rim: 2.9 inches: 7.25cm.
