A Very Rare George III, York Silver Waiter
An exceptionally rare George III, York Silver Waiter. With shell and gadrooned patterned rim with and engraved crest to the center. All standing on three ball and claw feet. (see pictures)

The marks are struck to the underside for Hampston, Prince & Cattles, York 1800. This piece is struck with all five hallmarks plus the maker's mark. Makers and lion passant only partially struck, on close examination it is clear that these two marks were simply struck right on the edge, perhaps to minimise the finishing required. This waiter includes the York town mark, which especially rare as a majority of pieces made in York were actually assayed in London. So this piece is of special importance for being made and assayed in York.

A very important piece of highly collectable York silver.

Diameter: 7.5 inches or 19cm
Weight: 319g or 11.2 oz.
This is a rare and exceptionally fine waiter is of thick gauge silver in absolutely original condition with no damage or repair. A scarce example and of the period
