The Spice Box is oval in form and is engraved on the cover and sides with foliate scroll work and bands of acanthus motifs. The cover is inset with a domed central agate panel surrounded by a beaded mount. The base is also engraved with pluming scrolls surrounding a central reclining nude figure, possibly Venus. The cover has a snap shut mechanism and can be released by squeezing the sides. The interior is marked with the maker's mark of PR with a crown above for Thomas Pritchard.
