A Victorian novelty Table Lighter, formed as a seated Camel with saddle and harness, London 1876, Barnard and Sons [Edward, John, Walter and John]: the silver camel set on a base-metal textured base. The wick unscrews to enable the body to be filled with spirit and the dipper is formed as the saddle pommel.
A wooden block with rollers has been set into the base at a later date.
The lighter is fully marked on the body of the camel; the wick is marked with a duty mark and lion passant and the dipper is unmarked.
The weight given below includes the wooded base.
