A Victorian Cheroot Case, London 1842, Rawlings and Summers, the case engraved with floral scrolls and, within panels on each side, a cipher and a view of an Arab, seated and smoking a long pipe, whilst leaning against his horse. In the background of this panel there is a range of mountains and a palace with onion-shaped dome.

The smallwork of Rawlings and Summers, in this period, is characterised by fine engraving - often, as in this example - with imaginary topographical scenes incorporated within floral scroll-work and sometimes including fantastic creatures amidst the scrolls.
Good.
