A lovely quality Victorian tea infuser. The main body perforated allover and standing on four round feet. The lid attaches with a bayonet fitting and the handle has a telescopic action. The lid is inscribed with "Crabtrees Invention" "The Universal" and a patent number 6991. Made by E.H. Whitehouse Ltd and hallmarked in Birmingham 1895.
The telescopic action on the handle is stiff. There are fine and some larger scratches to the infuser. The lid is part hallmarked on the rim and fully hallmarked on the main body.
