A Protégé of William Etty, then a student of the Royal Academy, exhibiting there from 1836 to 1878.
Success led to portraiture for subjects of sylvan and bacchanalian character, drawn chiefly from Spencer and Milton, 'Diana & Actaeon'.
William Frost's painting of 'Una' from Spencer's 'Faerie Queen' was bought by Queen Victoria in 1847.
His studio sale was held at Christie's 1878.
In original exhibition frame.
