A late 17th century oak refectory table with a superb lift off top that is nearly two inches thick, fine quality lunette carving to one long rail, chamfered legs and a central stretcher, making it very practical to sit at. The table has stunning colour and patination.
The table has a label which reads "Baste's Grundisburgh sale thirty years ago or more". The label itself appears to have quite a bit of age and it is likely that the sale was in the 1950's. Basts, as the correct spelling should read, is an unusual double jetty manor house in the East Suffolk village of Grundisburgh.
