The boys standing three-quarter length holding a bow in his right hand, wearing an elaborate violet coloured coat with white frogging and buttoned white waistcoat, his black tricon hat trimmed with white plume and lace

signed on the obverse T. Redmond and dated 1761, set on the inner side of a lid of a gilt mounted mother of pearl snuff box

Redmond (c.1745–1785), the miniature painter, was the son of a clergyman at Brecon and was apprenticed to a house painter at Bristol. He moved to London and studied for a short time at the St Martin's Lane Academy. He lived in Soho from 1762 to 1766 but afterwards he settled at Bath, where he continued to practise with success as a miniature painter until his death.

Whilst the sitter remains unknown the portrait is undoubtedly full of life and charm
Good some minor dust at the edge of the miniature, small scratches to the surface of the glass
