A good miniature hoop and spur wall timepiece, the four pillar Lantern movement with its original verge escapement and short bob pendulum.
The patinated brass dial has flower and foliate corner spandrels, a central alarm disc, and original single hand in fretted steel. The makers name is engraved on a disk within the arch.
Abraham Glasscock is listed on page 305 of Brian Loomes's 'Clockmakers of the World 21st Century Edition' as working in Epping, Essex in the latter part of the 18th Century. Even relatively late lanterns such as this clock are comparatively rare when in such an original state of preservation.
