Fine painted on ivory in an oval gold frame the reverse with cream coloured silk.
ADAM BUCK 1759 – 1833
Born in Cork 1759, practised here for some years painting miniatures & small watercolour portraits. Said to have worked in Dublin, then went to London in 1795 & exhibited at R.A, B.I & S.B.A, 1759 –1833, and at the R.H.A. 1802.
Besides painting he taught portraiture & drawing. He had numerous London addresses: 1795-98 he was at 174 Piccadilly; was in Frith Street 1799 – 1802 & 1813 – 1820 in Bentinck Street. Examples of his work are in the V & A.M. , the N.P.G., the B.M. & The National Gallery Dublin. Two of his miniatures were loaned to the South Kensington Exhibition of 1865.
