Portrait miniature of an officer wearing a red jacket with black upstanding collar and gold braid, two gold fringed epaulettes and a white cross belt with a regimental emblem with a leopard and 7V.

Watercolour on ivory in a good rose gilt frame the reverse with plaited hair.

ADAM BUCK 1759-1833

Born in Cork 1759, practising here for some years painting miniatures & small watercolour portraits. He went to London in 1795 & exhibited at the Royal Academy, British Institute & S.B.A., 1795-1833 and the R.H.A., 1802. Examples of his work are in the V & A Museum, the National Portrait Gallery the British Museum & The National Gallery Dublin. Two of his miniatures were loaned to the South Kensington Exhibition of 1865.
