Admiral Sir William Sidney Smith, bronze portrait plaque, 1834, by David D'Angers, bare head bust profile right, signed below the bust, DAVID/1834, W. Sidney Smith, 740 mm, contained in contemporary carved wood frame. Good very fine and rare.

Admiral Sir Sidney Smith, (1764- 1840), best known for his capture of the French fleet at Acre, forcing Napoleon to break the siege. He died in Paris in 1840.
