A very rare and important garniture of three solid agateware creamware pottery vases in the classic form with covers. The vases are modelled in relief with 3 medallions of the Nemean Lion and Hercules with patera on reverse .The main body decorated with elegant swags of huks. The vases are presented on black basalt plinths which are impressed on a circular lozenge with the rare early mark "I.NEAL HANLEY".
The central vase is 12 inches high and the flanking pair 10.5 inches high.
Neale is one of Staffordshires greatest potters renown for quality workmanship, this garniture is one of the earliest examples of their wares and dates to c1776-1778 .
