ALVIS LEONIDES MAJOR RADIAL ENGINE TABLE CIRCA 1955.

A 14 cylinder 780hp Alvis Leonides Major Mk 115 radial engine produced by the Alvis Car & Engineering Company, Coventry, circa 1955.

This engine formerly powered a Westland Whirlwind helicopter. The Westland Whirlwind primarily served with the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm in anti-submarine and search and rescue roles.

The Alvis Leonides Major was a British air-cooled 14-cylinder two row radial aero engine developed by Alvis from the earlier nine-cylinder Leonides.
