A portrait miniature of a young girl aged about 9. She has long curly fair hair held with a brown ribbon. She is wearing a white dress which is embellished with lace and and pin tucks.

Watercolour on ivorine in a good oval gold frame, the reverse with an oval glazed reserve with cream satin and a lock of hair. The Ivorine is signed and dated: Alyn Williams 1908.

Alyn William was born in Wrexham, Wales 1865 and became a pupil at the Slade School, London. His work was exhibited at the Royal Academy, the New Water Colour Society and the Royal Society of Miniature Painters (of which he was President), the Paris Salon and in the USA, 1890-1914. Two of his miniatures are in the Smithsonian Institution, Washington. His portraits of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra are in the Guildhall Gallery, London.
