A very fine 18th century English carved pine and lime wood chimneypiece by Robert Adam. Circa 1780.

The current chimneypiece is comparable in design and size to two drawings of chimneypieces executed by Robert Adam for the Aldelphi project. The Adelphi buildings were a block of unified neoclassical terrace houses occupying the land between the Strand and the River Thames in parish of St Martin-in-the Fields built by Robert Adam between 1768-72. They were demolished in the early 1930s.

Restored, with new stone slips
