Size : 2.5 cm high, 3 cm deep – 1 ins high, 1¼ ins deep
Provenance : Ex English Private collection
Associated with Ptah the dwarf, Pataikos was an amuletic household deity portrayed with a bald head. His name comes from the Greek historian Herodotus' description of a Phoenician dwarfish protective image. The finest examples in faience date from the 3rd Intermediate and Late Period.
