A fine example of a mid 19th century Anglo-Indian rosewood cabinet on chest, of campaign form, made in three parts, all in solid rosewood, of particularly good colour and accomplished detailed design. The top section with twin doors, opening to reveal two shelves. The lower two sections, each with carrying handles, comprising of a series of two small drawers over three drawers, each with brass campaign-type handles. Standing on turned feet. The whole profusely carved and decorated in typical form. Of fine colour and patina throughout.

The door and drawer fronts of this cabinet are finely carved in the form of stylised sunbursts. The sunburst or Surajmukhi is a typical symbol of the state of Gujarat signifying prosperity.
