An attractive portrait of a young lady wearing a gold embroidered white dress with peppermint green sash and red cloak draped over her right shoulder Enamel, signed with initial S and dated 1776 on the obverse in gilt-metal frame with leaf border, probably by Hatfield and Sons
Spicer exhibited at the Society of Artists, 1765-1783; was the secretary in 1773.. Exhibited at the R.A, 1774-1804. He Travelled to Dublin circa 1776 where he painted portraits of prominent people. He was appointed Painter in Enamel to H.R.H. the Prince of Wales whose portrait he painted and the Royal Warrant is in the possession of his descendants. He had a distinguished clientele which included the Duke of Northumberland, Earl Moira, Sir Joshua Reynolds, Charlotte Augusta, Princess of Wales, and Nelson
